I was glad to hear, that while one of my cinema heroes may not exactly be on the same page with me, politically, at least he doesn't have the puke-for-brains of your typical Hollywood Socialistic Liberal...

Clint Eastwood cleaned up at last night's Academy Awards, as he won for Best Director and his film "Million Dollar Baby" took home the Oscar for Best Picture. But he remains the center of a mini-political storm as debate rages over whether his film -- which features a paralyzed boxer who wants to die -- endorses euthanasia.

Mr. Eastwood says the controversy over his film's ending is overblown. He says people often assume his politics are tied up in the films he chooses, but adds, "If somebody thinks they know who I am because of a character I've played, it just means I played the role well, which is what you're supposed to do."

However, he is happy to sound off on his personal political views, which can be broadly described as libertarian. He stirred up a fuss a few years ago by speaking out in favor of a flat rate income tax. "Generally speaking, I always believe in being fiscally conservative, though it doesn't seem either party is in that category," he told Outside magazine in 2003. "I just think we should get off everybody's backs. We don't have to micromanage our society. It has to be run, but it doesn't have to be beaten to death."

It is amazing to what lengths the Demwits will go to keep from keeping President Bush from getting credit for the outbreaks of Democracy in the Middle East... But let me tell ya... They Are NOT Random Acts of Democracy and the Dems notwithstanding... history WILL attribute to President Bush the attempt (and hopefully the eventual success) to bring freedom to the middle east (in much the same way it gave President Reagan credit for ending the Cold War over the Dems desperate attempts to place it elsewhere.) I think I just set the outline for my next essay post.

Dennis Prager gives the most pragmatic definition of the cultural war being waged between the left and right in this country...

"The entire edifice of moral relativism, a foundation of leftist ideology, is built on the notion of feelings deciding right and wrong. ...

For liberals, the entire worth of the human fetus is determined by the mother's feelings. If she feels the nascent human life she is carrying is worth nothing, it is worth nothing. If she feels it is infinitely precious, it is infinitely precious. ...

[F]ar more conservative positions are based on 'What is right?' rather than on 'How do I feel?' That is why a religious woman who is pregnant but does not wish to be is far less likely to have an abortion than a secular woman in the same circumstances. Her values are higher than her feelings.

And that, in a nutshell, is what our culture war is about -- Judeo-Christian values versus liberal/leftist feelings." --Dennis Prager

WOW... I think that leads us to yet another post that must be written....
